About Worldbeat

The WorldBeat Global Education Project is a project of the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation. Financial assistance has been obtained from the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

SCSS -- The Saskatchewan Council of Social Sciences is the special subject council of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation. The Council liaises with government regarding curriculum development, while at the same time helping teachers in their professional development. Annual conventions, PD workshops, newsletters, and a quarterly journal help to create an environment of professionalism, innovation, and collegial sharing. The Council aims to recognize excellence, provide information, and create a network in which Social Science teachers can exchange ideas and strategies, thereby promoting the Social Sciences in Saskatchewan. http://www.stf.sk.ca/prof_growth/ssc/scss/scss.html

SMYA--The Saskatchewan Middle Years Association is also a special subject council of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation.  The SMYA advocates for appropriate educational practises for use with students in grades 6-9.  The organization publishes a quarterly journal and newsletters, hosts an annual conference, and offers numerous professional development opportunities throughout the year.  You can visit their website at www.smya.ca.

SCIC -- The Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation is a coalition of organizations involved in international development and committed to the recognition of the dignity of all people and their right to self-determination, to the protection of the world's fragile environment, and to the promotion of global understanding, cooperation, peace and justice. For more information, see our home page at www.earthbeat.sk.ca.
